CURRÍCULUM

Professor at Escola Superior de Desporto de Rio Maior–Instituto Politécnico de Santarém  since 2014, a former integrated member of the Life Quality Research Centre (CIEQV, 2020-2023), and now a researcher at the Research Centre in Sport Sciences, Health Sciences and Human Development (CIDESD). He was also a collaborator of CIDESD since 2017. In 2020, he obtained his PhD (thesis title: “In-season training load quantification of a top elite European soccer male team”) in Sports Sciences at the University of Beira Interior, Covilhã, Portugal.

Currently, he is an author of ~140 published scientific JCR/SJR articles in which ~100 are in football field. He presents a JCR Web of Knowledge h-index of 17 (1040 citations) and a Scopus h-index of 18 (1111 citations). His research focus on exercise physiology, testing, control and prescription, load monitoring/quantification, strength & conditioning and sports training methodology for different populations.

He developed several national and international collaborations in the field of soccer across multiple countries such as Spain, United Kingdom, Poland, Turkey, Tunisia, Iran, and Brazil.

In 2022 and 2023, he was awarded with the 1st place for his contribution to research and development by Instituto Politécnico de Santarém. He was also awarded with an honourable mention and 1st place as a researcher with the best citation rate in scientific publication in 2022 and 2023, respectively, by CIEQV.

Since 2021, he is the Sub-coordinator of the Ethics Committee of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém.
