CURRÍCULUM

Professor at Escola Superior de Desporto de Rio Maior–Instituto Politécnico de Santarém  since 2003, an integrated member of the Life Quality Research Centre (CIEQV). He was also a collaborator of CIDESD since 2017. In 2024, he obtained his PhD (thesis title: “In-season Internal and External Workload quantification in Portuguese Elite Women Soccer”) in Sports Sciences at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Vila Real, Portugal.

His teaching expertise includes sports training theory, women’s soccer, assessment, monitoring, and prescription, as well as sports physiology.

Currently, he is an author of several published scientific JCR/SJR articles specially in football field. His research focus on exercise physiology, testing, control and prescription, load monitoring/quantification, assessment and monitoring of training in both team and individual sports for young and adult high-performance athletes and women’s soccer.

His practical experience includes expertise in football (soccer) specially in women’s football, with a focus on training methodology, assessment, and monitoring. In professional football, he has more than 20 years of experience and in the last 7 he’s been coaching elite women’s football clubs in Portugal and with that developed skills such as team leather ship, tactical and technical skills and load monitoring/quantification, assessment . He also holds a UEFA PRO Football Coach (Level 4) license from the Portuguese Football Federation and UEFA.

He was awarded with an honorable mention and 1st place as a researcher with the best citation rate in scientific publication in 2022 and 2023, respectively, by CIEQV.

Since 2023, he is the Coordinator of the Physical Activity and Sport Scientific Area at CIEQV
